// Aprhodite Soak (new new)

Majority of the time, I make my products out of my own needs. Things I come upon in life, phases I go through, the emotions I feel, my products reflect all of them. And most of the times, making these products is a way for me to heal. Not only through using the product (duh) but through the research and ideas that go into it. Take this bath soak for example. I had specific intentions for what I wanted this soak to bring to people But it wasn't really until I started researching the ingredients I wanted to put into it, that I realized I had certain issues that had been trying to surface and I ended up learning even more about myself that I even intended. In a way, these products show me exactly what I need, even if I wasn't searching to begin with.

It's a weird, amazing thing. But then again, I know that the universe always sends me exactly what I need to learn, to heal, and to grow. And making these products, is definitely that for me.

But enough with my rambling. Here's a bit (or a lot) about my new bath soak and some of the intentions and concept behind it.

// Aphrodite Bath Soak

I originally wanted to make this bath soak for Valentine's day but then just ran out of time. Sooooo bummer.

BUT, who's to say we can't celebrate ~love~ all year round?! So here it is!

I wanted this bath soak to be suitable for couples but also for individuals. I don't think you need to be in a relationship to have love. Nor do I think you should depend on a relationship for it. I think love comes from yourself first and it isn't until you have self-love that you can truly love another being.

When I was thinking of a name to fit behind these intentions, I almost immediately came across Aphrodite. Being born in April, I have always felt a connection and appreciation for this Greek goddess. I never really quite understood why, I've always just been so fascinated by her. It was a pretty clear choice that I had to name this soak after her and doing a bit of research absolutely solidified that decision. Here's what I discovered:

// Aphrodite

> Goddess of fertility, love, beauty, and desire

> Born from the foam in the waters of Paphos,

> Aphrodite generates the desire to know and be known. If this leads to intimacy, impregnation and new life may follow. If this union is of the mind, spirit or heart, new growth occurs in the psychological, spiritual or emotional spheres.

> Her effect is not limited to the sexual and romantic. Aphrodite feels Platonic love, deep friendships, empathic understandings, and soul connections.

> When growth is generated, or a vision is supported, or a spark of creativity is encouraged, Aphrodite is influencing it, affecting the people involved.

> Aphrodite has very focused attention, and is both receptive and attentive to people. She is always in the limelight, and makes others feel special when she turns her charm their way.

> She is a great force for change. When an artist or writer stays up all night for weeks to work on a painting or write a book, the creative result is still a union that gives birth, but to a creative work of some kind.

> As women we all need to develop capabilities and strengths as our courage and determination are tested. Despite all the problems we encounter, and trials we endure, each one proves to us that we are much more capable and stronger than we ever believed. There is an old saying, “Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” All people value love and will risk almost anything for it. We must be sure we wisely choose whom we love, and then we will be winners, because our relationships will have value, and we in turn will be valued and respected in them. So although we may not wish to emulate all of Aphrodite’s traits, by learning her story we can see parts of our own selves, and learn something unique not only from her, but from each of the Goddesses in Greek mythology. Pay attention to the inner Goddess in yourself!

> Aphrodite is a force of nature, her energy urging us toward relationships. She is both the bringer of joy and the feared harbinger of passion. She is the Goddess of Love and the essence of feminine beauty and grace. She is also easily spotted for her social charm, being well versed in the art of conversation.

> The Goddess Aphrodite showed that the human experience could be blissful. She demonstrated this by being completely unself-conscious in the celebration of her own beauty and the beauty of others.

> This Beautiful Muse aspect within us also has a great capacity to be empathetic towards others who are in emotional pain. If this aspect is dominant, we tend to be sensitive and compassionate as a result of our own experiences.

> Venus, the ruling planet of Aphrodite and the astrological sign of Taurus, gifts us with the quality of appreciation. There is no one who will make you feel more appreciated than a woman in full Aphrodite mode.

> Above all, Aphrodite represents the transformative power of love.

>Aphrodite ~ Inner Goddess: Awaken the goddess within you through dance, self care and appreciating your divinity.”

>Message From Aphrodite: “Allow your inner feminine wisdom and dynamic beauty to rise to the surface. Cherish its power and meaningfulness. No matter whether your physical body is male or female, you have an inner femininity that nurtures you, and guides you with its intuitive principles. Now is the time to become aware of, take excellent care of, and celebrate your magnificence!”

>Various Meanings Of This Card: Balance your male energy with more female energy. Take steps to heal your sexuality. Enjoy being feminine. Dance more often. Be receptive. In relationships, allow your softer side to come forward. Do not hide your femininity (dress in a more feminine way, for example).

>About Aphrodite (pronounced Af-roh-DY-tee): Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of passion and love, who is associated with the planet Venus. Aphrodite’s name means “foam born,” as legend says taht she sprang from her father Uranus’s castrated genitals, which were cast into the ocean. Thus, Aphrodite represents unabashed female sexual energy. Aphrodite helps women feel comfortable with their bodies and sexuality. She helps both genders to experience more passion in their relationships, and to become more balanced as far as individual male and female energy is concerned.”*

> She is the force of creation. Aphrodite is the charge between positive and negative ions that cannot resist one another.

> In the psyches of both men and women, she is the will to live, she is what animates us and brings us into the world of beauty and passion. Aphrodite is so closely entangled with our life force that she is difficult to see as something separate.

Christine Downing calls her Aphrodite Automata: one who is spontaneously giving, but also never possessed. She lives in humans as their quality of personal charisma — bestowing warmth, availability and a golden hue to all interactions. She is an enchantress and a storyteller.

> Aphrodite lives entirely in the realm of feeling. She moves through the world with a finely tuned discernment about her senses. Aphrodite stands for the qualities in humans, and especially in women, who need to see themselves through the eyes of others.

> She needs constant reflection to see, to feel who she is. When out of balance, she is dependent on being liked and admired (as I have demonstrated above). When balanced, she trusts what arises from her body, and she knows sensations will not steer her wrong.

> She is the ground of the river, the lower organs that touch the earth and use tactile muscles to make their way from one place to another.

> Unlike the humble, modestly robed Virgin Mary, Aphrodite (also known as Venus) is almost always depicted naked (a la Birth of Venus). She is unashamed of her body, and willing to be fully seen.

> But Aphrodite’s innocence and vulnerability are unstained by lovers. She is a virgin in the pagan sense of the word: a woman who always belongs to herself.

> Aphrodite inspires those who seek her to let down their body armor and wake up to sensuality in their skin. She is loved because she inspires us to reclaim the eros in erotic.

> She lessens the toll that constant interactions with machines take on our human softness, our fluid-ness, and our aliveness. Our bodies are our homes, so she teaches us to inhabit them.

> Often that means being willing to look back at the places we’ve left: the dusty corners of our psyche we avoid; the painful, stuck spots we’ve repressed because we have been told at some point, “Shame on you.“

>Shame is placed on us by others, and remains with us because we accept it. Let’s learn to refuse it as easily as we would a drink offer from that creepy guy at the end of the bar. No I’m sorry, just a No, thank you. A goddess does not need to explain herself.

> Aphrodite is an energetic signature within each of us that invites us toward the freedom of actualizing our own internal sense of authority. She shows us that we do not need a lover to show us who we are. We steep ourselves in self-love.

> We become full of ourselves so no one is needed to patch the holes. When we celebrate this wholeness, we are willing to be naked in front of the world without apologies.

And a bit about the flowers and oils I chose to mix in this gorgeous soak:

// Hibiscus
> Magickal Uses: This lusty flower incites passion — use it to attract love or lust, or for prophetic dreams . Attracting love and lust, divination, and dreams. Carry in a sachet or burn as incense to attract love. These flowers have been used throughout centuries as an aphrodisiac.

> The hibiscus is a Sun plant, but the large funnel-shaped flower also means it is sometimes associated with Venus (although it has no sweet scent, as we would expect). This magick herb is used for divination, clairvoyance, or reaching higher planes.

// Honeysuckle

> Magickal Uses: Honeysuckle - devoted love - said to protect your garden from evil. It is known as the ‘love bind’ - symbolizing a lover’s embrace in its clinging growing habits. The heady fragrance of the flowers was believed to induce dreams of love and passion. If the bloom is brought into the house a wedding is said to follow within the year.

> Honeysuckle has been burned as incense since ancient times within homes and dwellings for prosperity. It is said that burning honeysuckle can attract and maintain financial blessings into the home. The sugary and lemony scent of honeysuckle sweetens the thoughts of those who smell it, therefore triggering generosity.

> Since ancient times, it is said that the sweet scent of honeysuckle works to clear the mind and work to strengthen psychic powers. Some believe that crushing and placing the honeysuckle flowers next to the forehead can boost the psychic powers within the mind. The scent of honeysuckle can sharpen intuition when used as a plant, when burned as incense or when dried and placed around the room in sachets. Attracts friends, business and instills confidence. Used for money, prosperity and clairvoyance. Traditionally symbolizes the “bonds of love”.

> The honeysuckle flower has a reputation for being centered around love and the bonds of love due to its sweet aroma and the fact that the flower looks like two lovers intertwined. The scent of honeysuckle is said to cause dreams of love and passion.
